 College Football Fraud Five:

Weekday college football returns with a vengeance tonight, with two Mid-American Conference games on tap. But before we turn our attention to Week 12, let's take a peek back at the five worst lines posted on last Saturday's action:

1: Southern Cal (-10.5) vs. Stanford: The Trojans' collapse this season is pretty much complete. No. 11 USC, already beaten at Washington and blown out at Oregon, was a double-digit home chalk against the 25th-ranked Cardinal, yet trailed by seven at 28-21 after three quarters. Then they gave up 27 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. Stanford rolls, 55-21.

2: Ohio State (-16.5) vs. Iowa: The 10th-ranked Buckeyes, who returned home following a road upset of Penn State a week earlier, were also laying a big number at home against No. 15 Iowa, yet ended up needing overtime to pull out a 27-24 victory.

3: BYU (-27.5) at New Mexico. The winless Lobos should have been ripe for another blowout loss, but the No. 22 Cougars were never close to covering this overwhelming spread.

4: LSU (-23) vs. Louisiana Tech: Hey, we've pretty much made a habit of getting at least one SEC team per week in here. Step on up, Tigers. Taking a big step down in level of competition, No. 9 LSU actually trailed 13-10 at halftime in Baton Rouge before eventually escaping with a 24-16 victory.

5: Louisiana-Monroe (-21) vs. Western Kentucky: OK, we're going a little obscure here, but the Warhawks trailed 12-7 through three quarters and needed a pair of fourth-quarter TDs just to dodge the straight-up (SU) upset, winning 21-18.

 College Football Two-Minute Drill:

The official conference of weekday college football serves up a pair of games tonight. The big MAC's first offering is Buffalo at Miami (Ohio), with Central Michigan at Ball State a couple of hours later. Time to head to the numbers:

Buffalo has cashed in its last three meetings with Miami (Ohio), and the Bulls are on an 11-3 road against-the-spread (ATS) run, though they've failed to cover in their last seven starts as a favorite.

Miami (Ohio) is in ATS ruts of 6-13 in the MAC and 4-9 on its home field.

Central Michigan is 5-1 ATS on its last six trips to Ball State, and the Chippewas are on additional ATS surges of 37-15-3 overall, 11-5-2 on the highway, 23-7-2 in conference play and 18-6-2 against losing teams.

David Letterman's alma mater is on a 1-11 SU nosedive, and Ball State is on ATS purges of 1-5 in the home jerseys and 1-4 as a home underdog.

 NBA Fast Break:

We'll wrap things up today with a few noteworthy NBA trends:

The Hawks, hosting the Heat, are on a season-opening 9-2 SU and 10-1 ATS tear, and they sport further positive ATS streaks of 19-7-2 at home and 20-6-1 laying points.

Miami is on ATS upticks of 4-1 on the second of back-to-back nights and 5-2 against the Eastern Conference, but the Heat have failed to cash in their last three games.

The Spurs are on an 0-5 ATS dive on the road and shoulder additional negative ATS streaks of 3-7 in the Southwest Division and 3-8 against winning teams, with Dallas up tonight.

The Mavericks are 5-2 SU and ATS in their last seven home meetings with the Spurs (3-0 SU and ATS last three), and Dallas is also on pointspread rolls of 5-1 overall and 9-4 on its home floor.
